There are no accounts

You never make one. While you are building a song we set one cookie, song-token, which is how the site knows the draft is yours. It is read-only to the server, cannot be read by JavaScript in your browser, and lasts two weeks. Without it we could not show you your own draft.

What you give us

• Details about someone else. Their first name, your relationship to them, the occasion, something they always say, and a few specific things about them. This is the whole product — it is what the song is made of.
• Your email address, at checkout. We send the song to it, and it is one of the two things that let you find your song again later.
• Your name, if your card has one. Our payment provider passes it to us, and it appears on the gift page as who the song is from.

About the person the song is for

Worth saying plainly: the details you write are personal information about someone who has not agreed to anything. They are sent to the AI providers below in order to write and record the song, they are stored with your draft, and they appear in the finished lyrics.

We do not use them for anything else — no profiles, no advertising, no training. If that person asks us to delete their song and the story behind it, we will, without asking them to prove anything.

Who else sees it

Each of these gets only what it needs to do its job:

• OpenAI — the details about the person, to write the lyrics.
• ElevenLabs — the finished lyrics, to record the song. Not your email.
• Stripe — your payment. We never see or store your card number.
• Resend — your email address, to deliver the song and any replies.
• Supabase — where the database and the audio files live.
• Google Cloud — where the site itself runs.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see which pages people arrive on and where they stop. It sets cookies. We do not have a consent banner yet, and rather than pretend otherwise: if you would prefer not to be counted, a tracker blocker or your browser’s “do not track” setting will stop it, and nothing on the site will break.

How long things stay

• Unfinished drafts: two weeks, then deleted — story, lyrics and all.
• A song you paid for: kept. We promised the page and its QR code never expire, so the song and the story behind it stay until you ask us to remove them.
• Order records stay as long as we need them for accounting.
• Replies stay on the gift page. If you remove one, we stop showing it.

Asking us to delete it

Email hello@songgiftmaker.com. Tell us the order number or the email you used and we will delete the song, the audio and the story behind it. We keep the bare record that a payment happened, because we have to.

Children

Songs are often about children — that is fine, and lovely. But the person buying needs to be an adult. This is not a service for children to use themselves.
